This movie demonstrates an entire modeling session. A ZSphere model is constructed, and sculpted in Preview mode. (Alternately, the model could have been converted to a polymesh, or imported from another program.) Details are added to mesh levels of varying resolutions (up to 1.5 million polys), using masking, selective visibility and ZBrush's intuitive freehand modeling tools. The Move tool is used to create fins, and the rest of the surface details are added chiefly using a few of the Draw-Pointer Edit modes. These modes, which are new in ZBrush 2, include:
* Standard mode, which displaces polys outward based on the center polygon.
* Inflate mode, which displaces all polys outward.
* Layer, which displaces polys one level of depth outward.
* Smooth, which smooths rough areas.
* Pinch, which is good for scars and crevices.
After modeling, the raw ZSphere model is posed, retaining all mesh edits.

Artist Martin Krol demonstrates some of the features and modeling techniques in ZBrush 2.
Beginning with a ZSphere model, he creates a base (low-poly) mesh, for which he then uses selective visibility to define polygon groups (Polygroups). He subdivides, yielding a high-resolution mesh based on the low-poly mesh. He then adds high-frequency details using a combination of Projection Master and standard freehand modeling tools.
Once the modeling is done, a displacement map is generated, incorporating the high-frequency details as added to the low-poly mesh.
